How much does VFK Buddy cost?
VFK Buddy is completely free. It was created for the enjoyment of the VFK community and will always be free.
Where are my screenshots/videos?
This is actually a very good question, so I'll save you some time in searching for the location. This was first brought to my attention as a legitimate concern by Swordsman, so credit goes to him for coming up with this question.
NOTE: The locations described are the default locations. You can change where the screenshots and videos are stored by going to the "Prefs" window.
Your screenshots/screengrabs are stored in a folder called "screenshots" in the same directory as the program. If the program was in a directory like "C:\My Stuff\VFKBuddy", then your snapshots would be in a directory of "C:\My Stuff\VFKBuddy\screenshots".
Similarly, your videos are stored in a folder called "video" in the same directory as the program. If the program was in a directory like "C:\My Stuff\VFKBuddy", then your videos would be in a directory of "C:\My Stuff\VFKBuddy\video".
The filenames are of interest, as well:
Game Screenshot - Click the "Take Pic" button. The file is stored with the format of "screen_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.png", meaning that it is like saying "screen_date_time.png".
VFKBuddy Screen Grab - Click the "Grab Scr" button. The file is stored with the format of "grab_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.png", meaning that it is like saying "grab_date_time.png".
Video Recording - Click the "Record" button to start recording and again to stop recording. The file is stored with the format of "video_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.mov", meaning that it is like saying "video_date_time.mov".
How do I change where my screenshots/videos are stored?
1) Click on the "Prefs" button in VFKBuddy and the "Preferences" window will open
2) You'll see two locations listed: "Screenshots" and "Videos"
3) Next to the location you wish to change, you'll see a button that says "Change"
4) Click the "Change" button and select a folder
5) Press the "Open Folder" button
How do I run VFK Buddy?
Be sure to unzip the ZIP file you downloaded first.
Inside the ZIP file you downloaded, you can find a text file called "Running VFKBuddy". It will explain exactly how to run the program, as well as give a small personal message from me.
NOTE: When you run the program, you may be asked to install the Flash plugin. Please do so, even if you think you already have it installed. VFKBuddy uses a browser library based off the Mozilla engine, so a Flash plugin for this will not be the same as a plugin for something like Internet Explorer, and you may need to install the plugin again.
